A message from the President

John PalomaresHello and a big welcome to all players, parents and coaches of Doncaster Rovers Soccer Club to the 2015 season. Reflecting on the club’s achievements over almost half a decade since its very humble beginnings in 1967 it is important to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of past players, coaches, committee members and volunteers.

What bonds all of our members together is the love, passion and dedication to this great game. Someone once asked me “What makes a great club” and my answer was quite simple, it is the level of commitment and sense of belonging that is shown by everyone involved on and off the field.

As I have watched many of our MiniRoos, Juniors and Senior matches this year I can confidently say that our club always reflects a strong sense of respect and courtesy in the manner everyone conducts themselves.

The challenges that we face are many as we look into the future starting from our Senior Men and Women teams down to the MiniRoos tuckers. Any form of a team sport can present all those involved with many issues and difficult decisions such as selections, coaching, gradings and the general management of each of the teams. It is all worthwhile however, once the teams begin to develop friendships, teamwork and that essential sense of belonging.

We can never lose sight of the fact that the competitive nature of sport must never override the real reasons as to why our young players wish to play the game.

As we launch our new look website I wish to thank one of our Committee members, Angela Dalakouras , for her hard work and vision to ensure that this website becomes our main channel of communication to all of our members.

I urge everyone to become involved in whatever way they can to support the club, whether is by cheering, volunteering, team management as well as becoming part of the Committee. I’m certain that all teams will experience a sense of success in 2015 in one way or another as Doncaster Rovers strives to become one of the prime clubs in the Eastern region.
